With 436 points in total, Eleni Foureira with "Fuego" reached the 2nd and best position for Cyprus in the Eurovision contest. The winner Netta Barzilai with her song "Toy", was the winner of the 63rd competition and will take the Eurovision of the year in Israel, for the first time since 1998 when Dana International had won. This was Israel's 4th victory in the competition.

The victory of the 25-year-old Netta came with the votes of the public that changed the order of the committees of all the participating countries. A total of 63 countries took part in the 43rd Eurovision Song Contest, 26 of which were in the grand final that took place on Saturday night in Lisbon.

At the end of the ranking of the committees of 43 countries, Cyprus was in 5th place with 183 points. The juries of the 43 countries ranked first Austria with 271 points, second Sweden with 253, third Israel with 212 and fourth Germany with 204 points.

But the public vote, televoting, changed the order and the top five. With 317 points on the Israeli Netta, the audience gave the victory to "Toy", a song about diversity and women. With 253 grades to Eleni Foureira and "Fuego" Cyprus finally finished second, while in third place with just 71 points from the television audience was Austria, which was first in the standings of the committees, with Cesar Sampson and "Nobody but you". In fourth place was a country that was not in the favorites, Germany with "You let me walk alone" and Michael Schulte who got 136 points from the audience with the song talking about the death of his father.

Ermai Meta and Fabrizio Moro from Italy completed the top five with their anti-war song "Non mi avete fatto niente" which received 249 points from the audience.

Cyprus has 35 entries in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1981 (it did not participate in 2001 and 2014) and the best place it has taken so far was the 5th. She was ranked 5th three times, most recently in 2004 with Liza Andreas and "Stronger every minute".
