The Association of Dietitians and Nutritionists on the occasion of World Nutrition Day, which is October 16, calls on everyone to follow a healthy diet with the promise that they will see their body and life change for the better.

According to a statement, this year's theme of World Food Day is "Our action is our future" with the aim of encouraging, among other things, attention to agricultural food production and intensifying national, bilateral, multilateral and non-governmental efforts to this end. , to encourage economic and technical cooperation between developing countries and to raise public awareness of the problem of world hunger.

As it is reported, people have started to abandon the traditions of preparing meals at home, which have historically been seasonal, vegetable and rich in fiber. Preferring convenience, people have turned to refined starches, sugars, fats, salt, processed foods, meat and products of animal origin. Particularly in urban areas, consumers are increasingly relying on supermarket chains, fast food, street food vendors and fast food outlets. Dietary choices and sedentary lifestyles have pushed obesity to epidemic proportions not only in developed countries but also in low-income countries, where hunger and obesity can coexist.
