Frozen duck breast fillet originating in Poland was withdrawn from the Cypriot market after the Health Services detected the Salmonella enteriditis microbe and deemed it unfit for human consumption.
A statement from the Health Services states that, as part of official market controls, they have sampled a product, "in which, after laboratory tests, the microbe Salmonella enteriditis was detected and is considered unsuitable for human consumption."
This is the product "Lot No. 2407930679, Duck Breast Fillet with Skin, Category A, Raw, Deep Frozen 624 g (weight varies in each package), all best before dates up to and including 19/03/2026, and country of origin Poland".
The Health Services, it is added, "have already informed the company that imports and distributes the product in question on the Cypriot market, with instructions for its immediate recall/withdrawal from points of sale."
"However, because some quantity of the batch in question may already be in the possession of consumers, they are urged to avoid consuming it and return it to the place where they purchased it," it is noted.
The Health Services are collaborating with the Veterinary Services to further investigate the matter, the announcement concludes.
