Special arrangements have been made by the Pancypriot Union of Government Doctors (PASYKI), whose members have been on strike since early morning after yesterday's impasse.
According to a statement issued on Friday by PASYKI, the scheduled outpatient clinics of Specialist Doctors are postponed and rescheduled under the responsibility of OKYpY and all day hospitalizations for treatment, endoscopies and day care operations are postponed and rescheduled at the responsibility of OKypY.
In addition, it is reported that all planned surgeries are postponed and only emergency cases will be handled, which will come from the TAEP or from complications of those already hospitalized, with security personnel (on duty), while noting that the Department of Accidents and Emergencies for Children (TAEP Children ) will operate with security personnel.
It is added that the TAEPs will examine at the Nicosia General Hospital and the Limassol General Hospital patients in a critical condition, who need immediate evaluation and rescue interventions, while ESI-2 ESI-3 category cases will be delivered by the ambulance service to the TAEPs of private hospitals in the province by the Ambulance Service with responsibility and coordination by the Ministry of Health.
In addition, in the General Hospitals of Paphos, Larnaca, Famagusta and in the Provincial Hospitals of Troodos and Polis Chrysochous, patients in a critical condition, who need immediate evaluation and rescue interventions, and critically ill patients (very serious cases), who need urgent medical treatment and interventions.
Patients who need medical evaluation, diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions will be transported by the ambulance service to TAEP private hospitals in nearby provinces by the Ambulance Service, under the responsibility and coordination of the Ministry of Health.
Also, the transfer of patients from other hospitals will be serviced, only if the transfer is considered necessary, for the processing of an urgent incident or concerns finding a bed for the needs of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Intensive Care Unit of Children (MENP) after consultation with the experts on duty (security personnel).
In the meantime, it is noted that the ICUs, ICUs and ICUs will operate with security personnel (on duty) for those already hospitalized and will receive new cases from the TAEP of public hospitals or in cases where they cannot be treated by other providers for medical reasons.
In addition, the Trauma Center will be staffed with security personnel (on-call), while the chemotherapy and other day hospitalizations that may need to be moved will be moved. Chemotherapy given to hospitalized patients, he adds, will be carried out.
According to the union, all hospitalized patients will continue to receive the required medical care from the security staff, while it emphasizes that discharges will be avoided, without an absolute medical indication.
The 48-hour public doctors' strike ends on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at 07:30 am.
OKYPY in its announcement yesterday states in turn that "during the strike, TAEP will exclusively serve emergencies where patients' lives are threatened or at risk, while hospitalized patients will be served by security personnel."
Also, "all scheduled outpatient appointments, day hospitalizations for treatment, endoscopies and day care procedures affected by the physician strike will be rescheduled."
