Pediatricians will face a serious shortage of the triple vaccine, against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis, for the next three months.
The former President of the Pediatric Society and member of the Vaccination Committee of the Ministry of Health, Michalis Iasonidis, stated on the Morning Schedule that the new order of vaccines will be available in Cyprus in May.
“While there are,” he said, “needs for fifteen hundred vaccines per month, the stock, at the moment, is only 750 vaccines.”
The representative of the Pediatric Society stressed that the Ministry of Health services must provide explanations for the problem and take corrective actions, since the needs can be met with a similar vaccine that is on the market.
