Incidents of depression and anxiety increased by more than a quarter worldwide in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a study published in the medical journal The Lancet.
The study is the first to assess the global impact of the pandemic on major depressive and anxiety disorders, detailing by age, sex and location in 204 countries and regions by 2020.
The results of the study show that in 2020, cases of major depressive disorder and anxiety disorder increased by 28% and 26% respectively.
