Silicon gel sachets: You can not imagine how useful they are in your kitchen!

We have all found in bags, shoe boxes and other items that we buy some small sachets with the inscription "Desiccant" and "Gel Silica". Most of us throw them away. It's time to find out what their usefulness is but also to highlight the ways in which these bags will take place in our kitchen.

These sachets have two inscriptions: "Silica gel" and "Desiccant". Silica gel is a powerful desiccant and the reason it is in your bags, shoes or other items is to provide protection from wear and tear due to moisture and to prevent the formation of mold. It is such a strong substance that its action can last from 1 to 3 years! So it's time to think about strategic points in your kitchen that are prone to moisture…

They keep the products fresh
Ideal for storing your herbs. I tried it with parsley. It is a spice that I often use in most of my recipes. Its maintenance in the refrigerator, however, is quite difficult… After 2-3 days, it begins to wither and lose its elasticity. So I decided to use the silicone gel sachets. The result was amazing! Parsley is kept fresh and "alive" for a much longer time! The same goes for all my herbs.

You can also use this trick on chopped onion or lemon zest. Mushrooms last twice as long this way. The good thing about these sachets is that they are very small, so they only absorb excess moisture from food, without dehydrating them completely. So they last much longer and thus help in the better maintenance of all products, promoting it zero waste.

Cookies and cookies remain crisp
Homemade cookies or cookies lose their crunchiness as the days go by. If you put a sachet of silicone gel on the bottom of the container where you store them, then you protect them from moisture and they last much longer.

 

They "save" all the open packages you have in your closet
From cookies and chips, to spaghetti and cereals, all packaged products deteriorate quite quickly as soon as their packaging is opened. If you place silicone gel sachets, the products are crispy, without softening, until consumed. If you are afraid that the children will find the sachets and eat them by mistake, then you can stick them with cellophane tape on the lid of each box or package.

They protect the bread from mold
If there is a lot of humidity in your home, then it can bread you run the risk of mold before you can consume it. So with silicone sachets, you protect it from mold and moisture.

So the next time you find an envelope with silicon gel in a product, put it in your kitchen!
