The goal of the State Health Services Organization (OKYpY) is the cooperation of all involved bodies, so that through legislative regulations, programs and actions at various levels they can ensure safety, as well as physical and mental health in the workplace, the Organization states in a message for World Mental Health Day, (10 October 2024), "Mental Health at Work".
Noting that World Mental Health Day aims to raise awareness and inform citizens about issues related to mental health and well-being, he adds that mental health is a basic human right and good, contributing to ensuring a high quality of life and promotes learning, strengthens the professional performance and encourages the active participation of citizens in social activities.
In relation to the theme set by the WHO for 2024, which is "Mental health at work", OKYpY observes that although work promotes the economic, social and personal development of each employee, as well as state strength and social well-being , it is known that the conditions, demands and work environment can lead to burnout and the emergence of mental health problems.
It further states that unhealthy conditions, such as stigma, discrimination and exposure to risks such as harassment, can pose significant risks, affecting mental health, overall quality of life and consequently participation or productivity at work.
Finally, after mentioning that in Cyprus, the Directorate of Mental Health Services (DIPSY) of the State Health Services Organization leads the efforts to promote mental health to all citizens, while at the same time combating stigma and discrimination, it lists links for information regarding the actions that DYPSY will organize for World Mental Health Day, https://www.shso.org.cy/programma-ekdiloseon-eneka-tis-pagkosmias-imeras-psychikis-ygeias-dypsy-okypy-2024/ and information on the DYPSY https://www.shso.org.cy/hospital/iperisies-psixikis-igeias/.
