More than 4 thousand people visited the "Patient's Guide" website from the beginning of November to the end of January, Alexia Makridou, Head of Communications and Public Relations of the Health Insurance Organization (HIO), told CNA, noting that the website recorded more than 20 thousand pageviews.
It is noted that the website was launched in early November 2024 and, according to Ms. Makridou, it is a useful tool in the hands of citizens, for information on everything related to the services offered in the General Health System.
Speaking to CNA, Ms. Makridou stated that "the aim of the project is to offer, in an easy and understandable way, information and guidance on the services of the General Health System, with the ultimate aim of cultivating a culture of rational use of the services offered by the System and providing the best possible service to beneficiaries."
As he explained, this is a new website created in collaboration with the Federation of Cyprus Patients' Associations (OSAK) and which includes specialized information and answers for all services of the General Health System, especially for chronic patients.
Specifically, he stated that it includes information and guidance on all services provided by the General Health Insurance System, the procedures we must follow to secure them, the amount we pay when receiving services, the rights and obligations of citizens within the System, as well as specialized information for chronic patients, starting with chronic patients with thalassemia, nephropathy, rheumatism, diabetes, attention deficit disorder, stroke, idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases, congenital heart diseases and transplant recipients.
Referring to the content of the Guide, the Head of Communications and Public Relations of the OHS said that it is presented in the form of questions and answers, by category of service and by chronic condition, while also including the most frequent questions that the OHS receives daily from citizens.
Responding to a relevant question, Ms. Makridou said that the "Patient's Guide" will be updated on a continuous basis, noting that it is available in Greek and English.
He called on citizens to prioritize their health and learn everything about the services offered by the General Health System, drawing information from the "Patient's Guide".
In the meantime, users have direct access to the website, via the link https://patientjourneycy.org, as well as via the GHS website www.gesy.org.cy, while for the purposes of further informing citizens, the Organization has prepared three short videos, which citizens can watch on the home page of the "Guide".
