The Ministry of Health warns of the illegal circulation of pharmaceutical products with the names "Dysport" and "Botox".
As it states in its announcement, following inspections carried out in various premises, including beauty salons and medical practices, by Authorized Inspectors of the Pharmaceutical Services, it was found that pharmaceutical products with the names "Dysport" and "Botox", as well as other pharmaceutical products, are being administered. The products in question do not hold a Marketing Authorization in the Republic of Cyprus and have been obtained from sources outside the legal supply chain in violation of the Medicines for Human Use (Quality, Supply and Price Control) Law.
The Ministry points out to all healthcare professionals that the circulation, supply and administration of any pharmaceutical product, without having procured it from legal supply chains and/or without holding a Marketing Authorization in the Republic of Cyprus or having been legally approved by the Medicines Council, constitutes a violation of the provisions of the relevant legislation.
In particular, it is noted that a person who, in person or through his employee or other representative, circulates in the territory of the Republic a pharmaceutical product for which a marketing authorization has not been issued, in violation of subsection (1) of article 9 of the above Law, is guilty of an offense and will be prosecuted.
