Today's meeting of the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) and unions of government doctors led to an impasse, with the 48-hour strike, which has already been announced for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow in public hospitals, remaining in force.
It is noted that the meeting was planned, following the initiative of the Minister of Health, Michalis Damianou, who, although he is absent abroad, undertook to make one more effort - even if the last one - to avoid the strike, which will have serious consequences in the field of health and will suffer thousands of patients.
During the meeting OKYpY insisted on the position that "any solution must be holistic" and that they must reach an agreement on the financial incentives of doctors from 2023 to 2027.
For their part, the doctors' guilds proposed to the meeting a return, primarily, of the amount of money, which concerns the years 2023-2024, assuring that they would quickly - even from tomorrow - proceed with the consultation, in relation to the parameters recorded for 2025 -2027.
In the meantime, after the meeting, the press representative of OKYPY, Charalambos Harilaou, gave assurances that the Organization has taken several measures, in view of tomorrow's 48-hour strike, in order to continue the treatment of patients who are in public hospitals. He also assured that nothing will be done to endanger the lives of patients.
