Specific preventive measures urge the vulnerable groups to follow, the Medical Services and Public Health Services of the Ministry of Health, due to the recent seasonal flu outbreak in Cyprus.
In a statement, they state that "we take care of the good ventilation of the places where we live and when a person coughs or sneezes he uses a paper towel, which he puts in front of his face and which he immediately throws in the trash and washes his hands".
Also, “wash our hands well and often with soap and water and avoid touching the face with dirty hands while avoiding close contact (face to face) with a person who has symptoms of a respiratory infection and follow a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables, as well as and physical exercise ”.
The Medical Services report that "the child or staff member who has symptoms of a respiratory infection does not go to school until the symptoms have subsided and is following the instructions of his or her treating physician".
The announcement states "that the flu vaccine remains the best way to prevent the disease, especially for vulnerable groups of the population, according to the instructions of the treating physician and the Ministry of Health".
In particular, "children with risk factors for severe influenza, in particular those with chronic respiratory, cardiovascular, renal and immunosuppressive diseases, should be vaccinated even now or with their pediatrician." or, in the case of beneficiaries, at the Maternity and Child Centers after a prescription from a pediatrician ”.
