The situation is manageable and all necessary measures are being taken regarding monkey pox in Cyprus, said the Minister of Health, Michalis Damianos.
Mr. Damianos was speaking on the sidelines of the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Health, at the Ministry of Health.
Answering a question regarding the case of monkey pox detected at the Nicosia General Hospital, Mr. Damianos said that "all the necessary measures are being taken so that we can manage the situation, which is clearly manageable", while adding that "there is nothing new to say".
"We had 6 cases of cases (SS in Cyprus). The last one was in 2022," he said. "All the necessary actions have been taken, there are protocols and the situation is manageable," he stressed.
Responding to a question about the possibility of updating the protocols, the Minister of Health noted that "the Medical Services will look at it, we will look at it as a Ministry, but it does not seem that any additional measures should be taken at this time."
"As I have said, there is also a sufficiency of vaccines, so we will proceed as the protocol says," he concluded.
