The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that the Department of Public Works' FixCyprus application is completing one year of operation. During September 2022 to September 2023, the FixCyprus app was installed on 6.812 mobile devices and 4.742 reports were submitted, of which 3.760 were deemed to be within the context of using the app.

All reports are reviewed by responsible Administrators in the District Offices of the Department of Public Works and are assigned for handling either to the technical branches of the Department or to other competent authorities, as appropriate. 30 Town Halls, 356 Community Councils, Provinces, 20 utilities (electricity, telecommunications, water, sewerage, etc.), 30 public services and their District Offices are connected to the platform for managing reports submitted through FixCyprus.

The priority for handling reports depends on both the seriousness of the situation they describe and the type of problem. For example, a report involving scattered gravel on a section of major roadway or light island was resolved immediately, while a report involving minor pavement cracking was scheduled for resolution during the periodic maintenance phase.

The number of reports and their handling, per geographical area, is shown in the following table:

The numbers reflect both the size of the population and the length of the road network in each province.

Currently, 30% of reports (1.110 reports) have been completed, 68% are scheduled (2.553 reports), while only 2% are pending for handling. The majority of reports filed so far relate to cracks and other pavement problems, obstructions and sidewalk damage, lighting, sign vandalism and visibility issues due to obstructions, while the majority of dismissed reports related to illegal parking on sidewalks and lot cleanups, the which do not fall under the purpose of use of the "FixCyprus" application. 80% of the reports were reported on residential and minor road network axes, which shows that citizens are quick to report problems they find in their neighborhood's road network and which may have been bothering them for a long time.

The Officers of the Department of Public Works, in collaboration with the Center of Excellence for Research and Innovation "Koios" of the University of Cyprus, carry out regular checks and improve the operation of the application, as well as the management procedures.

More information on the FixCyprus application, as well as an analysis in relation to the reports received, is available on the website www.fixcyprus.cy. Also, through this website, citizens can submit suggestions for improving the application.

It is noted that the application has been developed in the framework of the implementation of the measure "Creating an intelligent transport system using digital twin technologies" of the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan, with funding from the EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.

With the slogan "For a safe tomorrow, fix it today!", the Department of Public Works urges citizens to continue using the FixCyprus app.
