Approximately 55 representatives from countries of the Global South, who are in Cyprus as part of a conference dedicated to sustainability and sustainable development, had the opportunity to get to know the free province of Famagusta up close.
The program of the visit included important cultural and historical sites of the Municipality of Paralimni-Dheryneia. In Deryneia, the guests visited the Open-Air Museum of Folk Art and Tradition and the Folklore Museum of Deryneia, getting to know the local tradition, way of life and the rich cultural heritage of the area.
In Paralimni, they visited the Museum of National History, while the visit to the Square of the Three Churches was of particular interest, where they saw important religious and historical monuments of the area.
The tour presented the rich history and cultural heritage of the free province of Famagusta, as well as the modern identity of the Municipality of Paralimni-Dheryneia as an important tourist destination in Cyprus.
In this context, the new tourist identity "Protaras Riviera" was also presented, inspired by the French Riviera, which highlights Protaras as a modern Mediterranean destination with unique beaches, natural beauty and quality hospitality.
The visit was an important opportunity for international promotion of the free province of Famagusta and in particular the Municipality of Paralimni-Dheryneia, highlighting the history, culture, traditions and hospitality of the place, as well as its commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation.
