At yesterday's meeting, the council decided to withdraw its support, noting that this will bring peace and security to the residents.

According to statements by Christina Mattheou, a member of the Coordinating Committee against the creation of a crocodile park in Achnas, six City Councilors voted against the park and two in favor.

The main reason for their decision was - as he said - the public's concern for the creation of the park, especially after the Pan-Community Assembly to inform the residents about the issue in question on April 27.

He added that the government is responsible for granting the permit since the company that created the park has not yet made the relevant application.

According to Ms. Mattheou, "We expect the government and the competent bodies to listen to the decision of the community and not to accept the creation of the park."

He pointed out that the creation of such a park would be detrimental to the environment of Cyprus since its operation requires 80 tons of water per day, which is prohibitive for a country suffering from water shortages.

It is noted that the Steering Committee in the fight against the creation of a crocodile park was drafted last February and remains vigilant by organizing electronic resolutions and protests in order to prevent the creation of the park.
