Fast forward to a crocodile park in Dasaki Achnas

The green light for the creation of a Crocodile Park within the borders of the Community was given by the Community Council of Achna Forest.

As the Commonwealth of Achna Forest, Nikos Vassilas, stated in KYPE, “at a meeting last Tuesday, April 17, the Community Council gave its consent by a majority, for the construction of a crocodile theme park. 6 of the 9 members of the Community Council were in favor of the project, ie the Common Leader, two councilors of DISY, one of AKEL, one of DIKO and one of EDEK, two community councilors of DISY voted against while a second councilor of AKEL abstained ".

Mr. Vassilas clarified that "we do not have any authority to give permission to this company to create the theme park, however we were told that in case the Community reacts it would not submit an application. "After the consent we gave, it was decided that a nationwide gathering would take place on April 27, at which the company would present the project in detail and inform the residents of the Community."

He added that the Community Council has printed leaflets which will be placed in the mailboxes of all the inhabitants of the Achna Forest and will be informed about the realization of the gathering.

To a relevant question, he answered that "in case there are reactions in the global community, then the Community Council will see the issue again. However, in case there are no reactions for the creation of the park, then the process of securing urban planning approval and building permit will proceed normally ".

In another question, Nikos Vassilas said that “the company's application concerns the creation of a theme park for purely tourist purposes, while we have stated that the contracts that will be signed will state that there will be no breeding farm for the sale of crocodiles and their slaughter for the skin or their meat ".

It is noted that the company (Israeli and Cypriot interests) showed interest in creating a crocodile park in Dasaki Achnas, after the rejection of a proposal by the Community of Psematismenos, which cited, among other reasons, public security and the Municipality of Athienou, which did not respond.

The company's proposal concerns the creation of a theme park that will include about 150 crocodiles and the location for the creation of the park is located on the old road Larnaca - Famagusta, on the road between Achna Forest - Vrysoullos, in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus.

The Park is designed in a plot of 40 thousand square meters and concerns the construction and operation of a Crocodile Theme Park unit, which will accommodate about 100 crocodiles, the public will be able to visit it and will include a refreshment room, souvenir shop, rest areas and crossing for observation of crocodiles.
