SAINT NAPA: Another 28 migrants entered by boat from Syria

The Police arrested a 45-year-old man yesterday, after the arrival of a boat carrying immigrants in the sea area of ​​Famagusta.

Specifically, around 1 p.m. yesterday, a suspected target was detected by radar in the sea area east of Cape Greco. At 3.40am a vessel of the Port and Maritime Police, located and intercepted in the above area, a small vessel, in which 28 people were on board. As it was established, it was 16 men, five women and seven minors.

The boat's passengers were safely transported to the Ayia Napa marina. Subsequent examinations revealed that the vessel sailed off the coast of Syria on April 22, 2023.

According to testimonies obtained, the driver of the boat was a 45-year-old man, who was arrested and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The remaining 27 passengers of the boat, after completing the relevant procedures, were transferred to the "Pournara" hospitality center.
