Ayia Napa: New arrival of illegal immigrants - 19 men in a boat

Around 10 yesterday morning a boat was located which was 17 nautical miles off Cape Greco in the province of Famagusta.

Immediately, an akatos of the Port and Maritime Police sailed to locate the specific boat which was finally located about 11 nautical miles east of Cape Greco.

The boat was carrying a total of 19 men, including six minors, who were picked up by members of the Port and Maritime Police and transported to the Ayia Napa Marina for further.

As part of the investigation, testimony was obtained against two of the persons on board who were allegedly the traffickers. They are 37-year-olds and 36-year-olds, who were arrested on court orders and detained.

The other persons were transferred to the Pournara Detention Center for Informal Immigrants.
