Three persons were arrested last night by the Police, in the free area of Famagusta, to facilitate investigations related to investigated cases of attempted robbery and theft. They are an 18-year-old and two 15-year-olds, who were arrested on warrants a few hours after the offenses were committed.
The case of attempted robbery was reported last night by a 27-year-old. According to the complainant, around 11.20 p.m. yesterday, while he was walking on a street in Ayia Napa, he was approached by three unknown persons. Under the threat of a knife, the strangers allegedly asked the 27-year-old to give them his phone and money. The complainant gave his phone to the perpetrators, but when he showed them that he had no money, they returned the phone to the 27-year-old and walked away.
Around 1.30am today, members of the Police, who were conducting motorized patrol. They found three people in the area where the above incident happened, and stopped them for a check. After it was established that the three did not have any document in their possession, to verify their identity, they were taken to the Police Station for further examinations.
As it was later established, it is an 18-year-old and two 15-year-olds, while the continuation of the investigations secured testimony against them regarding the case of attempted robbery.
At the same time, testimony was obtained against the three persons in the context of the investigation into the theft of two bicycles from a bicycle rental office in Ayia Napa, in the early hours of November 2, 2024.
Arrest warrants were issued against the three persons under which they were arrested and detained to facilitate investigations.
The TAE of Famagusta and the Police Station of Agia Napa are continuing the examinations.
