The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Christos Senekis, visited the Municipal People's Market of Deryneia on Saturday, as part of his contact with producers and agricultural organizations.
As he stated, the aim is to record the views and needs of producers, in order to shape Cyprus' positions and proposals in view of the revision of the new agricultural policy and to promote, at the European level, tools that will substantially strengthen the primary sector.
Referring to the Municipal People's Market of Deryneia, he emphasized the importance of direct contact between producer and consumer, which contributes to boosting producers' income and reducing the final price for consumers.
Regarding water sufficiency, he noted that this year was relatively good in terms of water reserves and that the data is being evaluated in order to provide increased quantities of water in the immediate future. At the same time, planning continues with the aim of ensuring water sufficiency for the coming years.
