The Italian MP Pier Fascino, Rapporteur of the Political Affairs and Democracy Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, will visit the closed area of Famagusta today on the topic "Appeal for the return of Famagusta to its legal residents".
As reported in the occupied territories, Mr. Fascino will visit Varosi, accompanied by Oguzhan Hasipoglou, who is monitoring the proceedings of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe with observer status.
The Italian MP is also expected to visit the pseudo-city hall of Famagusta, and the so-called "real estate committee", while he will also see Ersin Tatar.
In a meeting he had yesterday with President Christodoulidis, Pierre Fascino expressed his commitment to assist in the efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue.
He said that his report on Famagusta will be presented to the plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly in June.
He assured that he is working for a solution that will be compatible with the resolutions of the United Nations and will reunite the island, in the framework of a bizonal bicommunal federation.
