On the occasion of the celebrations of the completion of the 109th anniversary of the founding of the Anorthosis Famagusta Association, we interviewed one of the most important figures in the history of the association, Dr. Taki Pelekano.

Takis Pelekanos took over the presidency of the Anorthosis Association in 1970, which he maintained until 1982, when he accepted an appointment to the position of Minister of Health. He held the post of Minister until 1988. He also held a parliamentary seat in the province of Famagusta from 1976 to 1981, where he served as Chairman of the Health Committee.
In the interview, he described the stone years that followed the uprooting of 1974, where he led the heroic and titanic effort for the survival and reorganization of the Association.
During his presidency, Anorthosis won the last trophy in the GSE, the cup against Omonia in 1971. Historical moments also during the presidency of Dr. Pelekanou, winning the football cup and the double in volleyball in 1975.
Dr. Takis Pelekanos, rightfully classified in the most important forms of the Association, for his selfless, long and rich offer, while he was honored as Honorary President of Anorthosis Famagusta in 2017, and a hall of the Association bears his name, while in the same year he was honored by Municipality of Famagusta.
