The President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, will have bilateral contacts with the EU leadership, on the occasion of his visit to the extraordinary Summit, on February 20, in Brussels, during which he will raise the issue of Famagusta.
As the Government Spokesman Kyriakos Kousios stated today at the Presidential Palace, the President of the Republic has arranged bilateral contacts during his forthcoming visit to Brussels, where he will discuss the issue of Famagusta and meet with the President of the European Council Charles Michel. President of the European Commission Ursula von Neut Lain and President of the European Parliament David Sassoli. He will also have a meeting with the President of the EPP, Donald Tusk.
Asked about the government's actions in Famagusta, the spokesman said that "diplomatic actions and contacts continue and will continue. Let me not mention the other measures that the Government intends to take and have already been decided, so that they are more effective. Rest assured that we will announce them when necessary ".
In another question, the Spokesman said that "we always move within political, diplomatic and legal frameworks. The Republic of Cyprus will activate all the mechanisms and especially the President of the Republic personally, and will take concrete actions within the framework that I have mentioned ".
Among other things, Mr. Kousios referred in detail to the actions that followed the Turkish announcements for Famagusta, in the summer of 2019, both on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and at the level of UN Secretary General and Security Council, but also at the level of Minister Foreign Minister, saying that "the Government did not remain inactive".
