A working meeting was held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the offices of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia with the management and staff of the Department of Environment and the Department of Marine Works of the Department of Public Works, with the aim of discussing and coordinating actions concerning important environmental issues in the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia.
The meeting focused on the erosion restoration study of Fig Tree Bay beach, as well as the study to upgrade and rehabilitate the wetland of Lake Paralimni. These are two interventions of particular importance, directly linked to the protection and promotion of the natural environment and the sustainable development of the area.
During the discussion, technical and procedural issues concerning the progress and maturation of the studies were examined, while the need for close cooperation between the competent services was underlined, in order to ensure the effective implementation of the projects.
As the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia stated, the protection of the coasts and sensitive ecosystems of the Municipality is a constant priority, within the framework of an integrated strategy for the preservation and promotion of the natural wealth of the region.
