The fire in a house in Avgorou started from an electrical appliance, namely a freezer, from which four people were taken to the Famagusta General Hospital as a precaution after inhaling smoke, while a dog was found charred in the yard of the house.
According to the Police, "the on-site examinations of the house in Avgorou were completed by members of the Famagusta Fire Department, the Fire Service and the Electromechanical Service. The examinations determined that the fire started from an electrical appliance (freezer) which was installed and in operation outside the house."
It is recalled that in a post by Andreas Kettis, Press Secretary of the Fire Service, on Platform X, it is stated that "at around 03:31 today, Wednesday, August 13, two vehicles from the Famagusta Fire Station responded to a fire that broke out in a house in the Avgorou Community."
The fire "started in the parking lot of the private house, which contained wood and spread to the ground floor interior (kitchen) and to an outdoor covered area (pergola). The entire interior of the house was also affected by the smoke."
It is added that "breathing apparatus and water hoses were used to extinguish the fire. The presence of two ambulances was required to transport four members of the household as a precaution to Famagusta General Hospital due to smoke inhalation from their attempt to extinguish the fire before the Fire Department arrived."
According to Mr. Kettis, "a charred dog was found in the back of the yard, which was tied up a short distance from the garage."
The Xylofagou Police Station continues the examinations.
