Avgorou buried his hero George Pilate (images & video)

With heroic honors, Avgorou today welcomed another hero of the Turkish invasion, who was ignored for 43 years.

George Andreas (Kyriakou) Pilate, reserve of the 201st Infantry Battalion who was ignored from the first phase of the Turkish invasion on July 20, 1974.

The bones of which were found in a mass grave in occupied Trachonas and were identified by DNA method.

The outgoing procession sang from the Holy Temple of the Apostles Peter and Paul in Avgorou.

Former Government Spokesman and AKEL MP Stefanos Stefanou delivered a commemorative speech.

The Government was represented by the Secretary of the Council of Ministers and Governor of Kyrenia, Theodosis Tsiolas.
