Half a century later, the funeral of the missing Theognosia Chrysostom, who was killed by the Turks in 1974, was held yesterday Sunday afternoon at the Holy Church of Apostles Paul and Peter in Avgorou.
Her bones were found in a mass grave in occupied Gypsou and identified in early June.
The elderly Theognosia passed away on September 12, 1974.
Theognosia Chrysostomou was the mother of the priest of the parish of Avgoros, Papagiannis Chrysostomou.
The government was represented by the Director General of the Ministry of Energy, Marios Panagidis, while members of parliament, the president of EOA Famagusta Yiannis Karousos, the Mayor of Agia Napa, representatives of the Police and the National Guard were present.
