The traditional music and dance festival "Lakirtin Fest", organized by the Municipality of Ayia Napa (Avgorou Municipality) and the cultural group "Dimiourgein", was held with great success on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

The streets and courtyards of the Municipal District of Avgorou came alive through a musical and dance parade, with performances at three selected locations, creating a unique atmosphere of cultural vitality that embraced young and old.

The route started from the Ethnographic Museum, with the Avgorou Community Choir setting the tone with traditional songs, and included stops in the courtyard of the Church of Agios Georgios, where the traditional choir "Lalia" presented songs from various regions of Greece, at the Tsimburis house, the Aglantzia Folklore Group thrilled the audience with Cypriot dances, and in the central square, the Cultural Workshop "Para ti limni" presented impressive Macedonian dances, enhancing the Panhellenic dimension of the festival.

The evening culminated with the return to the Ethnographic Museum, where a grand feast was held with circular dances and songs, in an experiential experience of our folk culture, not as a museum element but as a living experience.

More than 15 musicians from Cyprus and Greece and dance groups from Cyprus joined forces, offering an evening full of sounds, memories and authentic cultural expression. The audience participation was warm and substantial, giving the event a collective and experiential character.
The event was honored with their presence by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, as well as the Deputy Mayors of Avgorou and Sotira, Mr. Panagis Michaelas and Antonis Koumis, underlining with their presence the importance of cultural cooperation and the promotion of local tradition.

It is worth noting that all net proceeds of the festival will be allocated to the financial support of vulnerable social groups.

The "Lakirtin Fest" proved for yet another year that the tradition remains alive and dynamic and has now rightfully become established as a cultural institution.
