The multi-award winning Cypriot artist Christos Televantos is set to represent Cyprus at the 19th Annual International Music Competition "George Grigoriu" in Romania

Multi-award winning Cypriot artist Christos Televantos is set to represent Cyprus at the 19th Annual International Music Competition “George Grigoriu” in Braila, Romania from 22-26 May 2024. This festival is named after George Grigoriu, an important Romanian Composer.

The participation of Christos takes place after a final selection by an international jury. As part of the whole event, during the first days the rehearsals with the live orchestra will take place. The highlight of the competition is the two final presentations of the songs on May 25 and 26, 2024 with twenty-four (24) finalists in total, twelve (12) artists from Romania and twelve (12) artists from different countries inside and outside Europe. The contestants will perform a song in their country's language as well as a song in the Romanian language, accompanied by a live orchestra.

Christos Televantos will perform the Greek song "I'll take you away" and the Romanian song "Maria". Based on the official information of the organization, this is the first time that an artist from Cyprus will participate in this specific competition that first started in 2005. He has done university music studies with a focus on Jazz and Musical. At the same time, he deals with a wider range of music genres such as pop and classical singing. His artistic activity also extends to the theater after he has played lead roles in musical productions such as "The Melody of Happiness", "Mamma Mia" etc. Furthermore, he was a student of the composer Giorgos Theofanous, actively participating in a series of Masterclasses. In addition, he is a graduate of the Department of Biochemistry & Biotechnology and works as a Chemical Laboratory Operator.
