Giannis Ioannou from Avgorou is an example of young people who literally hung their degrees to get on a tractor and take up the profession of farmer.

As he describes in Famagusta.News, in 2010 he completed his studies and seeing the difficulty of finding a profession, he was led to the dilemma, whether to leave our country for a better future abroad, or to take up his father's profession.

For more emotional reasons, he decided to continue his father's already "set up" job. Despite earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA at the Open University of Cyprus, Giannis decided to abandon his vision of employment and take on the difficult responsibilities of a farmer.

He encourages other young people to take up the profession of farmer, as, as he says, studies contribute positively to the way he sees the profession, as well as the whole process of agricultural production.

His 7 years of experience as a farmer have led him, today, to look at life with optimism, as he describes, his studies help him to better study the processes of production and to study more every process related to the crop, while he has join the support program of the Ministry of Agriculture for the 270 young farmers.
