A street naming ceremony took place today in Avgorou.

The modest unveiling ceremony of the new streets was held by the Commonwealth, Panagiotis Michailas and the Greek Nikos Lygeros, who is among the 50 smartest people on the planet and honored with his presence, this modest ceremony.

The naming was done on the initiative of the Community of Avgoros and the ceremony took place on the occasion of the arrival of Nikos Lygeros in Cyprus after two years.

During the unveiling, Nikos Lygeros spoke about the scientists who gave their names to the streets, as well as about his satisfaction that these three scientists are thus becoming known to the inhabitants and possibly future models.

This is a pan-Cypriot first, as stated by the Mayor Panagiotis Michailas, since these are names that are given for the first time on streets in Cyprus and the Community of Avgorou, is proud of the originality hosted by the Community.

Who are the three scientists?

Through the specific name "Rafael Lemkin Street", a tribute is paid to Rafael Lemkin, who was the creator of the word "Genocide". With the greatness of his Humanity, he gave us an important tool for the protection of peoples from all forms of barbarism and devoted much of his life to composing a special terminology and a legal text that would prevent and punish the commission of such acts.

Konstantinos Karatheodori was a Greek mathematician who distinguished himself worldwide. Karatheodoris was known outside Greece as Konstantin Carathéodory and is often referred to as Karatheodoris. His scientific work extends to many fields of Mathematics, Physics and Archeology.

Albert Einstein was a German physicist of Jewish descent, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921 for his services to the world of physics. He is the founder of the Theory of Relativity and is considered by many to be the most important scientist of the 20th century and one of the greatest of all time.

Who is Nikos Lygeros?

Nikos Lygeros is Professor of Strategic Analysis at the University of Lyon in France. According to the Standford-Binet scale, he is the Greek with the highest IQ (189) and one of the 50 smartest people in the world.

Mathematics, writing, poetry, painting are just a few occupations of his diverse personality. Strategy and Geopolitics are the areas in which he specializes. He is a special advisor to the School of National Defense, the School of Air Force, the Police Academy and the School of National Security.

The Greek scientist was born in 1968 in Volos and a few years later his family moved to France.

As a researcher he has worked in the fields of Algebra, Number Theory and Combinatorics. He belongs to the group of researchers who discovered in 1998, the first ten consecutive numbers in arithmetic progress and in 2010 the sixth solution of the Ramanujan equation, through computers.

He founded the organization The Pi Society in which to register one must have an IQ of 176 and above, a level of intelligence that according to statistical probability one in a million.

It is a member of Mensa, which has 115.000 members worldwide, Parssociety, which includes people with only a high IQ.

On his personal website there are over 14.590 written texts by him that include articles on various topics from Philosophy to Painting and Cinema.

He is one of the three professors who drafted the advisory report on the mineral wealth of Greece that was made available to the Greek Government.
