The Municipal District of Avgorou also joins in the festivities: Amid a bright and festive atmosphere, the Christmas decorations in the Municipal District of Avgorou were illuminated on Sunday evening, officially marking the start of the festive season. The ceremony took place in the Central Square and impressed with the rich program and the participation of the public.
The artistic program included music and dance performances by the Choir of the Municipal Council of Avgorou, the Primary Schools and the Public and Private Kindergartens of Avgorou, artistic groups, the THI of Avgorou and the "Avgoritissa Foni", while the evening culminated with the concert of Stan.
Around 19:00, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, and the Deputy Mayor of the Municipal District of Avgorou, Mr. Panagis Michailas, accompanied by the Members of Parliament of DISY Famagusta and AKEL Famagusta, Mr. Giorgos Karoulas and Mr. Giorgos Koukoumas, the Deputy Mayors of the Municipal Districts of Ayia Napa, Sotiras, Liopetri and Achna, Mr. Antonis Christou, Antonis Koumis, Markos Koumis and Nikos Vasilas, the Municipal Councilors, Sergis Sergis and Iosif Stylianou, as well as the former Secretary of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Theodossis Tsiolas, gave the signal for the lighting by pressing the established button.
Both the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, and the Deputy Mayor of the Municipal District of Avgorou, Mr. Panagis Michaelas, expressed their warm thanks to the Schools, Kindergartens and all the organized groups and bodies for the excellent organization and wished everyone a Merry Christmas, happy holidays with health, love and personal and family happiness.
During the event, the Deputy Mayor of Avgorou, Mr. Panagis Michaelas, flanked by Municipal Councilors Sergis Sergis and Iosif Stylianou, presented Mayor Mr. Christos Zannetou with a commemorative plaque, declaring him an honorary resident of Avgorou, as a sign of appreciation for their excellent cooperation to date.
In his response, Mayor Mr. Zannettou expressed his warm thanks for the honor and assured that he will continue to work methodically and dedicatedly for a resilient and sustainable Municipality of Ayia Napa.
At the event, workshops on decorating a Christmas sweater, free-form painting and Christmas crafts made from ecological materials were held, while the Christmas bazaar offered food, drinks, sweets and festive creations. Elsa and the Snowman brought smiles and beautiful moments to the children.
