With the aim of informing and raising the awareness of the 2030th grade students of the Ayia Napa Primary School about the importance of protecting the natural environment, the European Capital of Culture Ayia Napa 9 Organization, in collaboration with the Ayia Napa Primary School, the Municipality of Agia Napa Napa, the Cabo Greco Environmental Information and Education Center (Education Unit for the Environment and Sustainable Development, YPAN) and ArtWalk, held on Monday, December XNUMX, a pioneering joint action dedicated to the dwarf hippos as well as the environmental peculiarities of the region.
In the context of this creative joint action, which was mainly based on environmental education, the students participated in creative activities where they had the opportunity to make an art project that presents a life-size dwarf hippopotamus based on paleontological evidence excavations in Ayia Napa. The construction was created from plastic caps and bottles, which were collected as part of recycling actions, while promoting the message of sustainability.
Also, the students were informed about the dwarf hippos that once lived in the area and realized the threats that several species face today on our planet.
In her statements, the artistic director of the European Capital of Culture organization Ayia Napa 2030 Mrs. Tasoula Kallenou stated that this interdisciplinary activity had as its ultimate goal to promote cooperation and creativity by combining art, environmental education and the paleontological history of the island.
The Ayia Napa 2030 Organization added "it continues to support and organize initiatives that enhance environmental and cultural awareness, creating a strong footprint on the region's future."
