Police are investigating a case of attempted murder in the Famagusta district after four people were injured during a fight outside a nightclub. A 21-year-old man was arrested to facilitate the investigation.
At around 4.30am today, police officers responded to an incident in Ayia Napa, following reports of a fight outside a nightclub. Upon arrival at the scene, they found four injured people.
They are a 22-year-old, a 25-year-old and a 41-year-old, who suffered injuries, possibly from a knife, as well as a second 22-year-old, who suffered head injuries.
A 21-year-old man was also found at the scene, who, according to testimony obtained, allegedly injured the first three, while according to initial examinations, the second 22-year-old was allegedly with the 21-year-old.
The police approached the 21-year-old, who insulted them, resulting in his arrest for the flagrant offenses of public insult, causing concern and disturbing the peace.
The four injured were taken to Famagusta General Hospital where they were detained for treatment. The health condition of the 22-year-old, who suffered injuries from a sharp object, is considered serious, while the 25-year-old and 41-year-old suffered minor injuries. The second 22-year-old was also detained for treatment with injuries to the head and face.
Police examinations at the scene identified and seized a knife as evidence.
