The contract for the project "Creation of an Urban Multifunctional Park in Ayia Napa" for the amount of €4.210.052,92 plus VAT was signed today between the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the contractor company Wade Adams Contracting (Cyprus) Ltd. The contract was signed by the Mayor of Agia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou, and the Director of the Company, Mr. Theoharis Konstantinou.
This is a 34000 sq.m. project, which is located near the center of Ayia Napa and its purpose is to shape and be a green lung and recreation area for the entire Municipality and which is part of the Final Strategic Planning Study of the Municipality of Agia Napa for the Upgrading of the Traditional Urban Center and a long-term pursuit of the municipality. It should be noted that the original study was prepared in 1999 and validated in 2019.
As the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou, said in his remarks, it is a project that connects the urban center of the Municipality of Ayia Napa from east to west and which is located in a strategic location where visitors to Ayia Napa, from all hotels will be able to visit it on foot.
A project added vital importance because it will offer different experiences to both the visitor and the citizen of Ayia Napa since it includes a central square, an excursion area with covered pavilions and a canteen, a playground with various games and space for outdoor lessons, an artificial lake, a botanical garden, mosaic park, viewing area at the highest point of the park with a panoramic view of Ayia Napa and the sea, open-air shops for the sale of local products when events will be held, footbridge connecting the entrance from the pine area to the main area of the Park, 50 spaces parking and parking spaces for the disabled as well as public facilities buildings.
In this context of today's signing of this contract, Mr. Christos Zannettou said "we will continue all the efforts required for the implementation of strategic projects in all the municipal departments of the new Municipality of Ayia Napa". He continued, two major projects are underway, one in Avgorou and one in Achna, while the planning, licensing and implementation of major projects are underway, which will contribute to the upgrading of the quality of life of both the citizens and at the same time to the creation of a better professional development for the new generations.
He also stated, "that such projects of strategic importance, especially those that have an environmental nature, which will upgrade not only the green but will be differentiated from the rest of the projects that are only with infrastructure will also be in our goals for the other apartments by creating various themed squares so as to upgrade the standard of living of the citizens and not only the quality of life for our new generations".
For his part, the Director of the Company, Mr. Theoharis Constantinou, thanked the Municipality of Agia Napa for the trust it showed by awarding the project to his company for the construction of the park.
"I believe" said Mr. Constantinou "that we will meet the expectations of the Municipality and the people of the area and that a project will be delivered on time and in its quality that will upgrade the quality of life like all the parks, which show an example of culture for every city/community and society.
"We are confident that we will implement the project in cooperation with the consultants and representatives of the employer and finally we will have a successful project on time and in its quality" he said in conclusion.
As also pointed out, the park will contribute to the protection and strengthening of biodiversity, wildlife and the environment since the trees and bushes that will be removed for the purposes of the construction of the Park will be transplanted to new places and in cases of species that are removed and there is no possibility of transplanting they will be replaced with new ones in a number far greater than those removed. In addition, planting with species of Cypriot flora will be strengthened.
This important project is expected to be completed in 16 months.
