The 3rd Cyprus International Dragon Boat Regatta began on Saturday, October 11, in Ayia Napa, and continued on Sunday at Ayia Napa Marina, bringing together eleven teams from six countries including the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Serbia, Ukraine, Austria and Cyprus.

Declaring the start of the event, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, expressed his joy and excitement for hosting the event in Ayia Napa, emphasizing that this is a celebration of sports, culture and international friendship.

Mr. Zannetou referred to the values of teamwork, cooperation and discipline that characterize the sport, emphasizing that they are also a model for society.
He made special mention of the female crews with cancer experience, whom he described as a source of inspiration for everyone.

He also pointed out that the Regatta is part of the Ayia Napa Municipality's strategy to strengthen sports, culture and quality tourism, adding that the Ayia Napa Marina has all the conditions for hosting international events.

He warmly thanked the Cyprus Dragon Boat Federation for their trust, the Ayia Napa Marina for their excellent cooperation, as well as the sponsors, partners and volunteers for their support.
Concluding his speech, he stated that "we envision an Ayia Napa that will not only be a summer recreation destination, but a vibrant hub of sporting, cultural and marine activities throughout the year."

After the ceremony, Mayor Mr. Christos Zannetou presented a commemorative plaque to the Cyprus Dragon Boat Federation, expressing his thanks for organizing the Regatta in Ayia Napa.
