Accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in Ayia Napa, he is fighting not to be extradited to Cyprus, citing the "dangerousness" of the island.
This is 19-year-old Mohammed Latifi, who is accused of "kidnapping" and raping a 2023-year-old girl he met on the beach during his vacation in Cyprus in 13.
Now, he is seeking not to be extradited to Cyprus, claiming that "his life is in danger from the Turks because he is of Kurdish origin."
The judge in Britain rejected the 19-year-old's request, stating that "if this is the case, why did you go to Cyprus on holiday last year?". He also gave the green light to the Famagusta District Court's request for his extradition to Cyprus.
He is now free on bail, having appealed the decision to extradite him to Cyprus.
According to the British court, “the suspect went to the United Kingdom in 2017, unaccompanied, as an illegal immigrant transported in a truck. He has been granted five years' leave to remain in the UK having been granted political asylum from Iran.'
He admits that he had contact with the minor but denies the accusations of rape.
