The two candidates, Christos Zannettou and Emilia Evangelou Xydia, spoke about their goals and the changes they intend to proceed with if they take over the City Hall of Ayia Napa on SIGMA's noon show, "Mesimeri kai Kati".
Regarding the reform that provides for the unification of Municipalities, Ms. Xydia stated that, we want a protagonist Municipality without joining any other Municipality and explained that, "Ayia Napa is a Municipality that had an upward trend. It is in the sixth place in financial capacity Municipality and we consider that we are entering an adventure if it joins a map of mergers, without securing its identity ".
For his part, Mr. Zannettou stated that, "the issue of reform is his priority. We disagree with the merger grace because the scholar has not taken into account the active population and financial data of Ayia Napa. Our position is the coexistence with Liopetri and Sotira, which is also a decision of the Municipal Council ".
The second issue that Mr. Zannettos will address is the local plan. "A plan that has been prepared since 2017 and we expect its publication by the Town Planning. There is a vision that will ensure Education, the well-being of our citizens and the education of our citizens. Our city must prosper, it must support tourism and it must be further upgraded through this vision of the Local Plan. "I am convinced that Ayia Napa can become the first tourist destination in the Mediterranean."
Ms. Xydia agreed on the above, who added "we saw the problems of Ayia Napa and we tried through the elaboration of the Local Plan to ensure the solution of the problems. We will have to add to the Local Plan some urban planning which we will have to include in the European Regional Development Fund to solve the two-speed Ayia Napa. Ayia Napa exists today, on the coastal front with tourism and jobs and there is also the urban center which year by year businesses close. "We have to marry these two fronts."
