A magical medieval evening was experienced by the thousands of people who watched the parade and the artistic part of the opening ceremony of the 19th Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa.

A crowd of people attended the opening ceremony of the 19th Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa on the evening of Saturday, October 12, both along Makariou Avenue where the spectacular parade of bands and groups took place, as well as in the central square where the concert "The Ballads of the Senses" took place with the acclaimed artists Vassilis Lekka and Violeta ΄Ikaris, who captivated the audience with their song choices and great performances. The artists were accompanied by the "Orfeas" Music Scheme of the "Panikkos Hatzihampis" Foundation.
The opening of the 19th Medieval Festival was held by the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare Mrs. Marilena Evangelou, who in her greeting stated that the Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa is a successful institution that over the course of 19 years has now evolved into one of the most successful Festivals in the country us but also of the wider region. This event, he added, demonstrates in a tangible way the importance that the Municipality of Ayia Napa attaches to cultural activities and to the promotion of our cultural heritage.
Welcoming the visitors, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipal District of Agia Napa, Mr. Antonis Christou, referred to the well-maintained long-term efforts of the Municipality with which he managed to make this Festival a successful institution, emphasizing at the same time that the ultimate goal of the Municipality is still the continuous enrichment and its upgrade as well as the promotion and promotion of our rich cultural tradition.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zannettou in his own greeting expressed his belief in the preservation of culture even now that the Municipality has grown and expanded with the inclusion of the five apartments and assured that the enrichment with additional projects and actions will have as resulting in the promotion of culture, tradition, people, our unique history and identity to later generations.
He also added that culture is for the Municipality of Ayia Napa an integral part of everyday life as it is the cornerstone for attracting tourism while at the same time it contributes to the economic development of our country.
