The conference on "Paving the way for people with autism" was crowned with great success.
A seminar on "Paving the way for people with autism" was organized on the evening of Wednesday 03 July 2024 at the Cultural Center of Ayia Napa "Giorgos Seferi", by the Autism Support Association of Famagusta.
The President of the Provincial Self-Governing Organization of Famagusta (EOA) Mr. Yiannis Karousos, the Mayors of Agia Napa and Paralimnio - Deryneia, Mr. Christos Zannettos and Giorgos Nikolettos, the Deputy Mayors of the Sotiras, Agia Napa and Liopetriou of the Municipality of Agia Napa etc. Antonis Koumis, Antonis Christou and Markos Koumis, the Deputy Mayors of the Paralimni and Frenarous Apartments of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia etc. Kleanthis Koutsoftas and Kostas Michail, Members of the Municipal Council of the two Municipalities, the Station Commander of the Famagusta Fire Station Mr. Giannakis Kapillas, representatives of local agencies and organizations and a crowd of people.
Welcoming the event, the President of the Famagusta District Self-Government Organization (EOA), Mr. Yiannis Karousos, referred to the efforts to support Autism as well as the importance of the operation of the "Multifunctional Center for Lifelong Life, for people with Autism" for the Famagusta District.
In his own greeting, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou, gave an extensive update on the progress of the "Multifunctional Center for Lifetime, for people with Autism", pointing out at the same time that its construction is one of the priorities of the Municipality, because it is a very important model project since there is nothing similar in Famagusta District, which will provide upgraded, specialized and quality services to people with Autism.
The Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia Mr. Giorgos Nikolettos underlined the importance of the cooperation between the two Municipalities, so that the support and offer to the Autism Support Association of Famagusta becomes stronger.
The President of the Famagusta Autism Support Association Ms. Chrysos Prodromou spoke about the action of the Association, about the efforts made by the Members and Volunteers - friends of the Association, so that its goals will be successful and he thanked the Local Authorities and the Sponsors for the continuous support.
The special educator Mrs. Constantia Stavri developed the topic "In simple words about Autism", the manager of Ms. Ioanna Zorlaki spoke about the Day Care Center - Smile Project, while the Architect - Researcher of the "Multifunctional Center for Lifetime, for people with Autism" the new jewel of Famagusta District Ms. Panagiota Xeni presented the said project in detail.
Louis Loizou and Trish Browne spoke about the role of "Run for Autism", while children belonging to the Autism Spectrum Dimitris and Lorenzos referred to their own personal experiences and achievements both in sports and in other fields.
