With the established photo shoot under the old sycamore tree, the proceedings of the 7th Seferis Symposium, which took place from 7 to 9 November 2025 in collaboration with the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies and the Petrondas Modern Greek Studies Centre of the University of Cyprus, were completed with great success at the Ayia Napa Cultural Centre "George Seferis".
The Symposium brought together distinguished academics and researchers from Cyprus, Greece and other countries, constituting once again an important point of reference for Modern Hellenic Studies. The proceedings were closed by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, who officially announced the organization of the 8th Symposium in 2027.
The presentations of the conference participants covered an impressively wide range of topics and highlighted new, often previously unexplored, aspects of the work and life of George Seferis. In addition to presentations that commented on specific poems in a way that was different from the usual poetic analysis and with particular depth, very interesting presentations were also presented with a variety of topics, thorough research, new topics that have not been examined to date, as well as new approaches that significantly enriched contemporary Seferis research.

Many presentations dealt with Seferis's correspondence, as well as his extensive translation work, an area that has been less explored. Of particular interest were also presentations that concerned new elements about the poet's home and daily life, information that was not widely known until now.
Within the framework of the Symposium, the author Mr. George Hadjicostis was honored for his great contribution to Greek Literature and especially for his Seferikos work. This year's organization, both in terms of content and participation, confirmed once again the institutional role of the Symposium in the intellectual life of Cyprus.
The Municipality of Ayia Napa and the collaborating bodies express their warm thanks to all the speakers and to the audience who attended and supported the proceedings of the three-day Symposium and renew the appointment for 2027, with the expectation of an even richer and more creative organization.
