The Police arrested a 46-year-old man yesterday, to facilitate investigations into an ongoing case of robbery, extortion and causing actual bodily harm, which was committed in the early hours of July 1, 2025, in the Famagusta district.
The case was reported to the Police by a 23-year-old and a 20-year-old, according to whom, while they were in a nightclub, an employee of the premises asked them to leave, under the pretext of damage allegedly caused to the center's toilets.
Upon leaving the nightclub, unknown persons were waiting for them, who allegedly attacked and beat them, while they allegedly took money from them.
The two complainants visited the Famagusta General Hospital, where it was found that they had bruises and abrasions on their faces. After receiving first aid, they were discharged.
Police examinations yielded testimony against the 46-year-old, who was arrested yesterday, pursuant to a court warrant.
This morning he was brought before the Famagusta District Court, which issued a two-day detention order against him.
TAE Famagusta is investigating the case.
