The Municipality of Ayia Napa and the families of heroes Giannakis Antonis Pappoulis and Christakis Pieris Christou invite the public to attend the Annual National Memorial in honor of the two who heroically fell during the Turkish invasion of 1974.
The National Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 8:15 a.m., at the Church of Panagia Agia Napa. His Holiness Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta, Mr. Vasilios, will preside over the Divine Liturgy, the Memorial Service and the Prayer, while the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Mr. Marinos Mousiouttas, will deliver the memorial speech.
After the end of the Memorial, wreaths will be laid and a trisagion will be offered to the busts of the heroes, as a small tribute to their sacrifice and contribution to the homeland.
The Municipality of Ayia Napa extends an open invitation to all residents and the general public to attend and pay tribute to the heroes, keeping their memory alive and passing on our historical legacy to the younger generations.
The presence of everyone will be the highest sign of respect and gratitude to those who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of our homeland.
