The opening of the 01th Motor Car and Motorcycle Festival was held on the evening of Friday, November 4, in the Parking Area of the Lyceum of Greek Girls in Limanaki of Agia Napa, by the Mayor of Agia Napa Christos Zannettos and the President of the Provincial Self-Governing Organization of Famagusta Yiannis Karousos.
More than 150 hard-to-find and priceless cars and motorcycles are participating in the Festival, which will close late on the evening of Sunday, November 03.
In his statements, Mayor Christos Zannettou told him that the unique Classic Car Festival is now a successful institution that has been embraced by the world and he added that the long-term or medium-term goal is to create the Classic Car Museum in Ayia Napa.
"It's already in our plans," he noted, "we're planning it and we hope soon to file the relevant permits so that we can then implement it. A vision from the exhibitors, from the friends who participate in the Festival and support us such as Andreas Hacholis and Andreas Soulis who are our supporters throughout time, which will further enrich the Municipality of Ayia Napa and at the same time the tourist product.
In his own statements, the President of the Provincial Organization of Famagusta, Yiannis Karousos, said that the important thing about this Festival is that it is organized with the efforts of many volunteers, who voluntarily bring their cars to show them to the world at their own expense and that mentioned in itself says a lot and helps to extend the tourist season.
Antonis Christou, one of the initiators of the Festival and Deputy Mayor of the Municipal District of Agia Napa, expressed his satisfaction that in this year's event the participation exceeded any previous one and for the fact that it has been embraced by the world and as everything shows, he added that there will be a great increase in attendance in compared to previous years.
Mr. Christou thanked all the exhibitors for their participation and all those who contributed in any way to its organization, so that it now becomes a successful institution.
