The fairytale 16th Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa closed its doors on Sunday night and gives another appointment on October 8-15, 2022.
Eight fantastic, magical and fairytale nights were lived from 09-16 October 2021 by the thousands of locals and foreign visitors, who attended the events of the 16th Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa, which despite the pandemic and the strict protection measures overcame every success, expectancy.
Ayia Napa was transformed for another year into a fairytale medieval city with the guests, to enjoy the excellent spectacles and performances of more than 20 remarkable music and dance groups, groups and artists from Cyprus and abroad both during the parades and on stage and become one with knights, acrobats, princesses, dragons, witches, fairies and fairytale heroes.
They also enjoyed the remarkable concerts by the exceptional Greek and Cypriot artists Laki Chalkia, Sofia Papazoglou, Areti Ketime, Georgia Ntagaki and Petros Kouloumi.
Closing the end of the Festival and announcing the 17th Medieval Festival of Ayia Napa, which will take place on October 08-15, 2022, the Mayor Mr. Christos Zannetou stated that the Medieval Festival has now been classified as the great Festival of the Province of Famagusta and the Ministry of Tourism, which thanked him warmly, since as he said, the procedures had changed and the process of the big events had to be done on a provincial basis.
He assured that Culture, Cultural activity will not stop in Ayia Napa, will continue, will be upgraded and enriched. At the same time he added "we have the obligation to transmit all this and to teach it to our young people".
He also mentioned that Ayia Napa, as everyone knows, is a predominantly tourist Municipality, whose finances have been affected by 95%, but he noted that "it did not discourage us, we continued unscathed, we came out winners, we implemented these two great Festivals "with a budget of less than half of the previous years with upgraded but also quality performances, something that gives us strength to continue".
"This Festival took us back in time to the Middle Ages and its performances, which we enjoyed, are unique and an element that will support our history, tradition, traditions and customs."
In closing, the Mayor of Ayia Napa thanked all the bands that took part, the artists, the Municipal Schools, the sponsors, the supporters, the staff of the Municipality, which as he always said through the tireless efforts of the Cultural Officer Mrs. Maria Tofini In the field of Culture, the Municipality is presented with a white face.
