The forest fire in the Ayia Napa area, near the "Agios Ioannis" forest, was brought under full control yesterday, Sunday.
A written announcement of the Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment states that "around 16:12 on Sunday, October 31, a fire broke out in the area of Ayia Napa, near the forest of Agios Ioannis".
It added that "the fire was brought under control around 16:42, after it burned a small area covered with acacias. Two people from the Forest Department attempted to extinguish the fire with a fire truck and three people from the Fire Service with a fire truck ".
The exact causes of the fire are being investigated, while "anyone who sees smoke or fire should call 1407 or 112".
