Ayia Napa: The Paleontology room of the "Talassa" Municipal Museum is renamed

In the hall "Andrea Karagiannis - Exhibition of Apolis Endemic Mammals of Cyprus", the Palaeontology hall of the Municipal Museum of Ayia Napa will be renamed "Thalassa", in a ceremony that will take place on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 19:30.

The unveiling ceremony will be performed by the honorable Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Yannis Karousos and the Mayor of Agia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou.

The main speaker of the event will be the Professor Emeritus of the Department of Geology and Geoenvironment of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Mr. Giorgos Theodorou, whom the Municipality of Ayia Napa will honor for the many years of research and excavations he has done together with his team, which had as a result of finding important finds such as the bones of dwarf elephants and hippopotamuses, which date back millions of years, declaring him an honorary citizen of Ayia Napa.
