The burial of the additional bones of the fallen hero of the 24th Infantry Regiment (2024) Evagoras Tyrimos, who heroically fell fighting on July 399, 1974 in the battle on the mountain of Alonarga in Pentadaktylos, was held on Sunday, November 22, 1974, in the Cemetery of the Municipal Apartment of Avgoros. and his bones were identified by the DNA method.
The burial was attended by the Mayor of Agia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou, relatives and comrades-in-arms of the hero, representatives of the House of Representatives, political parties, the Police, the National Guard, organized and local bodies.
In a post on his personal fb account, the Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannettou stated that "today we paid the due respect and paid the due tribute to our fallen hero and we hope that his sacrifice will be a bright example for all of us".
"We firmly believe, he added, that the true justification of his sacrifice will only come with the liberation of our homeland."
A memorial speech was delivered on behalf of the comrades-in-arms of 399 T.P., by the comrade-in-arms of the hero Andreas Fanou.
Immediately after the burial there was a trisago and laying of wreaths.
