A 25-year-old woman was arrested by the Police for a case of negligent and reckless acts after she was found last night in Ayia Napa selling illegal nitrous oxide - a gas of laughter.

According to the Police, around 11.00 last night, members of OPE Famagusta, located the 25-year-old, on a street in the area of ​​Ayia Napa, selling nitrous oxide - laughing gas.

A search of the young woman's possession turned up a metal bottle, 26 unused ampoules and 4 used ampoules, 55 empty balloons and the sum of 51 euros.

The 25-year-old was taken to the local Police Station, where after being interrogated, she was charged in writing and released to be summoned later before a Court.

The case is being investigated by the Ayia Napa Police Station.

According to a police statement, nitrous oxide is a medicinal product, which is used exclusively for medical purposes, as an anesthetic gas, in minor surgeries.

It is administered only under the supervision of a doctor, since its use is dangerous for the health of the user, since among other side effects, it can cause acute respiratory failure and insufficiency of the circulatory system to provide oxygen to the body.

Cases of neurological damage have also been attributed to the abuse of nitrous oxide.
